Some kids enjoy food, while some need a little prodding to open their mouths. Do you constantly worry about your child’s appetite? Some essential oils can stimulate appetite! Here are some oils to try:
- Spearmint
Spearmint essential oil has several therapeutic properties. It has a minty fresh scent that is instantly uplifting. Stimulating the appetite is one of them. Diffuse oil mealtimes. Although, it might be a tad too intense for some children. Check if your child likes the scent.
- Cardamom
Cardamom is used in various Eastern cuisines. It has a warm scent and adds a delightful flavour to some dishes. It pairs beautifully with spices like ginger and turmeric. Used to flavour tea, cardamom is also known to aid digestion and stimulate appetite. It helps to soothe stomach spasms. Rub some oil on your child’s belly or diffuse the scent at home around mealtimes. It could be the scent to make all of you hungry.
- Lemongrass
Lemongrass is another great oil that packed with antioxidant properties. It is known to relief stress and anxiety to regulating blood sugar levels. Australian researchers have found that Australian lemongrass may relieve headaches and migraines because of a compound called eugenol that has similar properties to aspirin. Eugenol prevents blood platelets from forming clumps and releases serotonin, a hormone that regulates mood, appetite and intellect. Wow! That’s an oil that benefits you and your picky eater.
- Orange
Citrus oils are known to have energizing effects. Apart from being energizing, orange essential oil can help your body get rid of toxins and promote urination which will help to increase appetite.
