According to a study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, participants who inhaled a lavender aroma prior to exposure to a stressor and a memory task performed better than those who inhaled a placebo aroma. The next time you feel stress, relieve it by having lavender herbal tea or diffuse the scent in your room or workplace.


Cedarwood Essential Oil


The warm, woody scent of cedarwood is comforting and uplifting. Apart from its antifungal properties, it also has a sedative effect when inhaled. A study revealed that caffeine-treated mice exposed to cedarwood oil were able to sustain sleep  longer than the control group exposed to a lavender chamomile scent. If you need a good night’s sleep, consider diffusing the some cedarwood scent for best effect.


Yuzu Essential Oil


The yuzu is a yellow citrus fruit that has a distinctive citrus and floral aroma. It also has stress-relieving properties as it was found to soothe stress and lower heart rates in ten minutes. No wonder the Japanese have yuzu-yu or the custom of taking yuzu baths which involves sitting in a hot bath afloat with whole yuzus!
