5 Things To Do With Your Baby In Singapore
5 Things To Do With Your Baby In Singapore

Being a mum is a wonderful experience. However, we get that there are times when you want to get out of the house and experience other things with your little one in tow. Here are 5 activities you can check out for a fun and fulfilling time.

BABY CAFÉ

There is a first time for everyone, and being a new mum is a daunting task. You might have questions and worries about breastfeeding. Baby Café is part of Mother & Child, Singapore’s first prenatal and postnatal education centre.

The centre provides a support network for mothers for two hours every Monday. You will be in the company of experts and fellow mummies at the drop-in centre where they provide high-quality support and encouragement to those breastfeeding. Experts include lactation consultants and health visitors trained to assist with common breastfeeding problems.

The session costs $15 each time with tea, coffee, cold drinks and snacks provided in a relaxed atmosphere. Who said that your social life would come to a halt when the little one comes along? Have an afternoon out, meet new friends and take some expert advice home with you.

Baby Café: Monday (2- 4pm) at Mother & Child Centre in Tanglin Mall #03-11. Entrance: $15. http://www.motherandchild.com.sg/baby-cafe.php

TAKE A WALK

Got an early start to the day? Make the best of it by going for a short walk. With the gentle sun complementing the cool morning breeze, take in the crisp, fresh air as you and Baby take a short stroll in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. While you are there, do check out the Jacobs Ballas Children’s Garden, a kids-friendly place to reconnect with nature.

Remember to bring some natural insect repellent with you.

Jacobs Ballas Children’s Garden at Singapore Botanic Gardens: 481 Bukit Timah Road, 259769. Open from 8am- 7pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Closed on Monday.

ATTEND BABY YOGA

Heard of the many health benefits of practising Yoga? Consider trying out Baby Yoga and let the little one rep the benefits of the practice. Baby Yoga offers quality physical stimulation including flowing postures, holding, movement, touch, voice and deep relaxation. It induces a happy, carefree and lively parent-infant interaction which helps enhance intimacy, which develops as the babies grow.

The vibrant and kids friendly interior of Fidgets World features high-quality play structures custom designed and manufactured in Australia by Playtec.

The playground features three different zones with play structures and obstacles of various challenge levels, suitable for kids of all ages. Here is the good news, admission is free for adults and infants below one-year-old.

Fidgets World, 200 Turf Club Rd, #03-10 The Grandstand, Singapore 287994. Open from 9am- 6pm daily.

BABY SIGNING CLASS

With babies learning to point and gesture before they could talk, and instead of going through hours of ear-splitting cries from frustration, try a baby signing class to teach the little one to communicate with you.

The class helps when Baby is between eight months to two years old when they begin to know what they want but are still not sufficiently expressive verbally.

The Sign, Say and Play class, conducted by a group of independent certified Baby Signs instructors is designed for you and Baby to attend together. Through six sessions over six weeks, you will learn basic sign language, which helps to promote cognitive, social, and literacy skills.
